There are microscope slides, then there are Diamond Coatings coated microscope slides – slides that remain transparent yet carry an electric charge across the slides surface.

How does this even work?! A clear slide that offers an electric charge? Although the process is complicated, it is relatively simple to explain: We coat our microscope slides with a thin layer of ITO (Indium Tin Oxide).

ITO is a clear substance that is electrically conductive. ITO is used in so many different applications from touchscreen devices, heated windows and much more.

Because of the properties Indium Tin oxide offers, it is perfect for use in microscopy, especially electron microscopy and is now used in medical and scientific research centres and universities across the world.

Why? Well, the actual specimen now no longer needs to be charged, preserving the specimen for a longer period of time.

Diamond Coatings Coated Glass Slides

We mainly produce using soda lime glass as it has good characteristics such as chemical stability and hardness. We are able to further strengthen thermally or chemically and can also cut glass to specific sizes when required.

We can also provide our coated glass slides with a silicon oxide barrier which eliminates the diffusion of Sodium ions into the layer of ITO, enhancing the longevity and quality of the slide.

We have a range of sizes and grades available offering high levels of transmittance in various dimensions, thickness and resistances. We can also supply on request slides up to a maximum size of 400 x 500mm.

As well as its popular use in microscope slides, ITO coatings are also used for coverslips and beam splitters in fluorescence microscopy. ITO microscope slides can also be supplied with silver polymers/ busbars for ease of electrical current application, if required.
